The Footsteps of Florence Nightingale

Experience the sights and sounds of London while walking in the footsteps of the healthcare pioneer and founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. Your guide will be internationally recognized nurse historian and Nightingale scholar, Dr. Louise Selanders, EdD, RN, FAAN, a.k.a. “Flo’s Sister.” Louise has private access to places in the city significant to the history of public health and the reform of hospitals including the Old Operating Theatre & Museum, the Gordon Museum of Pathology (not open to the public), and the Florence Nightingale Museum. The itinerary also includes a full-day trip to Nightingale’s home at Embley Park (now Hampshire Collegiate School), her final resting place at St. Margaret’s Church, and Stonehenge. While rich with historical nods and nuances, the itinerary also includes time for participants to explore London on their own.

Friday, June 1, 2018

You have a voucher included in the price for a private transfer (up to two people) to the hotel. Afternoon on own to adjust and relax. Informal meet and greet with Dr. Louise Selanders and your fellow group participants at the Prince of Wales Feathers pub around the corner from the hotel.
– Meals: None.

Saturday, June 2, 2018

Full-day excursion to Stonehenge and East Wellow to see Nightingale’s home, Embley Park, and her final resting place at St. Margaret’s Church.
– Meals: Full Breakfast.

Sunday, June 3, 2018

Private coach arrives to hotel and provides all day transportation. You will have a tour of London by Dr. Selanders and see the Florence Nightingale Museum, Old Operating Theatre, and Gordon Museum of Pathology.
– Meals: Full Breakfast.

Monday, June 4, 2018

You have a voucher included in the price for a private transfer (up to two people) to Heathrow Airport or St Pancras railway station. This can be used on a different day if you’d like to extend your stay in London.
– Meals: Full Breakfast.

Double Occupancy – $1,029 per person
Single Occupancy – $1,590

Prices are based on at least 15 people in our group.

EXTENSIONS:

Please let us know if you’d like to extend your stay in London or if you’d like to travel elsewhere in Europe before returning home to the United States! We can easily extend your stay at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton or help you with arrangements to Paris, Dublin, Rome, etc.
