On October 10, 2002, I escorted the MSU Blue Line Club members to Omaha, Nebraska to watch the MSU Spartan Hockey team compete in the Maverick Stampede Tournament. This was the largest group of MSU Blue Line Club members to travel to a regular season event – we had a total group of 69 people. I have been coordinating travel for the MSU Blue Line Club for 13 seasons now. No matter how many Spartan fans travel, these trips are never boring and always full of fun. We have traveled to such places as Minneapolis, Madison, Boston, Fairbanks and Anchorage to name a few. Even if you are not a hockey fan, consider joining us on one of these wonderful trips. There is always plenty to do besides the hockey games.
We are traveling with a smaller group this Thanksgiving for the College Hockey Showcase. This event features the Michigan State University Spartans, the University of Michigan Wolverines, the University of Wisconsin Badgers and the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in a format that matches non-league teams vs. each other. Our group will travel from Lansing to Minneapolis on Thanksgiving Day morning, be able to shop the next day at the Mall of America and watch MSU vs. Minnesota that evening. On Saturday we travel to Madison where the Spartans will play the Badgers that night. We fly home on Sunday afternoon. In four days, three nights, we will get to go to the largest casino in the Midwest, shop on the best shopping day of the year at the largest Mall in the world, see two hockey games with 3 of the best teams in the country, have a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner with the MSU hockey family, walk the quaint streets of Madison, Wisconsin, and enjoy some of the best companionship anyone could ask for! Not bad, huh?
Next season this group will be traveling together again. One of our destinations will be Fairbanks, Alaska on 2/10/04 – 2/15/04. If you have never seen Alaska in the winter, you do not know the wonders that you are missing. It is a beautiful and friendly state that offers a lot of fun in the winter months. Join us for this or any other MSU Blue Line Club trip – you will not regret it!
