Cruising the Mediterranean with Carnival

Written by Marcia Bethea.

On July 20, 2005, my husband and I embarked on the maiden voyage of the Carnival Liberty. It was his birthday and Carnivals birth into the Mediterranean. What a way to celebrate two very special events!

The Liberty is the largest ship sailing the Mediterranean…at least for now! It was magnificent and what stares we received in every port. AND THE PORTS! Let me say that if you wanted to see Italy and other locations around the Mediterranean, you couldn’t find a better way of doing it! Just think, unpack ONCE and see Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Naples, Sorrento, Capri, Positano, Ravello, Dubrovnik, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, and Cannes!

You really need to take this trip. Whether your younger children or teenagers, this is just the perfect way to get them to Europe without you pulling all your hair out! Truly! The food was great and so many choices. My favorite was the 24-hour pizza! There was fish/chip, sushi, steak sandwiches, and ice cream…just about anytime you wanted it! There are activities for all ages on those days at sea or when you have seen the local sights and want to relax on board—something for everyone!

Carnival boast having the largest staterooms anywhere and it is so true! In our cabin we had three closest! Even our ‘large’ luggage fit under the bed! The bathroom was large, shower very comfortable and plugs with 110 voltage! Try finding that in other European locations! We didn’t need converter or adapters!

If you haven’t cruised, haven’t seen Italy (and other marvelous Mediterranean ports), than jump on board! This ship is so huge and stable, sails a calm area that not once was there any motion other than FORWARD! Classic Travel is offering a special sailing next summer… why not join us?!
