Royal Caribbean’s Mexico Cruise

Written by Todd Thrun.

Recently, my son Scott and I decided to take one of the hottest trends in travel today… a cruise. I have been on many cruises, however this was Scott’s first time. We flew from Lansing to Los Angles and boarded Royal Caribbean’s Viking Serenade, which is a 3 night cruise which calls on Ensenada, Mexico. The ship was rather small, compared to the huge ships sailing today, but it was the perfect size for us. Our first day was at sea as we sailed down the coast on our way to Ensenada. This gave us a chance to get to know our way around the ship a little better. The weather was fabulous, so we spent most of the day at the pool, sunbathing, playing shuffleboard and ping-pong. We even spotted a few whales and dolphins which came amazingly close to the ship.

The next morning we arrived in Ensenada. The weather was cool and overcast, but by 11:30AM the sun was up as well as the temperature. Ensenada is a sleepy little fishing village, but comes alive whenever a ship pulls in. Known mostly for shopping, deals on silver, pottery, and all sorts of Mexican handicrafts were available around every corner. We had a delightful lunch on the rooftop of a small local restaurant. The food was fantastic, and to top it all off, Scott put on a huge sombrero and did an impromptu Mexican dance. We returned to the ship, shopped out and feeling very full. The following morning we left on our way back to Los Angles. The day was spent at sea, and we relaxed, played bingo, and took advantage of all the ships activities. The food on board was fantastic, and the entertainment was top notch. We returned back to port, sad that the trip was over, but filled with the memories of a great cruise.

So if you are undecided on your next vacation, why not experience cruising. You won’t be disappointed.
