March 1999, was the most active group travel month in Classic Travel’s history. Besides groups going to New York, Spain, Cancun and the Final Four, we took 380 of our closest friends to beautiful Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The American Cyanamid Company hosted this Caribbean all-inclusive getaway for it’s VIP growers and dealers. We departed Detroit on a full DC10 charter for our nonstop flight to Montego Bay. The majority of the group stayed on the island for four nights with others taking advantage of Key Tours convenient seven night package. We were met at the airport by a fleet of busses for our transfer to our “home away from home”, The Renaissance Jamaica Grande in Ocho Rios.
During our stay, group members took our advice and got out and enjoyed the many pleasures of Jamaica. Tours were pre-arranged for the group such as a boat trip to Jamaica’s most famous attraction, Dunn’s River Falls and to Brimmer Hall, the largest working plantation on the island. For one evening American Cyanamid also chartered three yachts for the entire group to enjoy a sunset cruise along Jamaica’s beautiful north coast. Other than these pre-arranged activities, group participants enjoyed shopping excursions, trips to the Blue Mountains, river rafting, golf, deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling and pilgrimages to Bob Marley’s grave.
The all-inclusive Renaissance Jamaica Grande was probably the favorite aspect of the trip for most of the group. The great beaches, fantasy pools, fabulous cuisine at the hotels three restaurants, along with oceans of rum and red stripe made it difficult to leave this gorgeous property. Every night the Grande also featured a theme dinner and show with Calypso, Soca and Reggae music.
The combination of the wonderful people of American Cyanamid and the many pleasures that Jamaica has to offer made the week go by all too quickly. You too can enjoy Jamaica year round with Key Tours nonstop flights and hotel packages. Call us for details.
