Finally, it was our first vacation together as a married couple and we headed to what I have to say is one of the most beautiful destinations I have been to. David and I booked our honeymoon with Funjet Vacations and began our adventure to St. Lucia early Monday morning taking the Delta flight out of Detroit. It was so easy and efficient; especially considering the service on Delta Airlines was spectacular along with the in-flight movies and entertainment. It was a great way to keep us occupied for the long flight.
As we arrived to St. Lucia and exited the plane everything was smoothly handled by Sandals. Sandals collected our luggage and transferred it to our hotel room so when we arrived it was sitting by our door. With the live music playing as we arrived at the resort’s open lobby, we knew we had arrived to paradise at Sandals Regency La Toc. We checked-in, booked our excursions and made sure to get our dining reservations all set at the restaurants. I would HIGHLY suggest doing this right away as the restaurants book quickly; they were already booked 5 days in advance within the first two hours of our arrival. Also, as a packing tip, be sure to pack some nice outfits for the restaurants, there is a somewhat loosely enforced dress code. We were able to eat at every restaurant at least once at the resort while we stayed there. After a few days of lying on the beach and hanging out by the pool bar we need something a little more stimulating to do. Luckily we had booked a zip-lining tour for that day. We departed early in the morning to arrive at our destination and got geared up for 10 lines. The guides were amazing, taking videos and pictures of us and for us. This is a must-do when traveling to St. Lucia, the wild life and mountain landscapes are beautiful. That same night we had reservations at Kimono’s, the hibachi style restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was great!
On the 3rd to last day on the island we woke up early for our excursion with Son of Man Tours, where you book on the beach. The island excursion includes all the drinks (alcoholic and non), boat transportation, a homemade meal, waterfall excursion, Drive-in volcano excursion…Etc. I would HIGHLY recommend this excursion. Our guide was able to give us fun facts about the island and the history. No matter what question we asked he always knew the answer. We started our excursion by going on a boat tour around the island, our first hit was Marigot Bay then off to the mud-baths at the drive in volcano. Even though the mud baths were HOT my skin was the smoothest it has ever been! Next stop was to cool ourselves off in a waterfall, a scene just out of a postcard. After the waterfall we went snorkeling for 45 minutes and saw beautiful fish, squid, and the occasional water snake. After the excursion was finished you are ready to just relax for the remainder of the day. That is exactly what David and I did, in fact for the rest of the honeymoon.
As the honeymoon was coming to an end we made sure to book a nice restaurant for our last meal. We ate at the French restaurant, La Toc. It was a full 5-course meal and it was all delicious. Not to mention the wine was fantastic. It was a great way to end our honeymoon!
St. Lucia is one of the most beautiful destinations I have been to and the people are some of the nicest I have met. It is without a doubt a perfect place to start a new life with someone or rekindle the young love and seasoned relationship.
