My husband and I recently were invited to explore Sunset at the Palms Resort in Negril, Jamaica. For us it was like a second honeymoon, since our first was also in Negril. But this resort is very different and unique among resorts. This all-inclusive resort is set among a lush, tropical setting with winding pathways and wonderful flora to enjoy. Each of the 85 guestrooms are part of a two-unit “tree-house” like building and have a balcony with a daybed and table and chairs. The windows are screened, no glass, so you can hear the sounds and smell the scents of nature when waking each morning.
There is a pool with a swim-up bar, and a hot tub. There are three restaurants and three bars, but my favorite meal was the blackened fish at the Palm Beach Bar and Grill. Located across the street on the beach, this is where you can get your casual lunch while spending the day on the two-mile stretch of white sand beach. Though the beach is across the street, there are crossing guards to make it a very safe crossing and it is so beautiful, the short walk is really no bother!
Though Alan and I were not at this very special resort for long, we enjoyed being able to unwind and reconnect with each other in a way that large, active resorts would not allow. Also, starting in December 2013, this will be an adults-only resort.
